Names of new minor planets and an Expedition to the Caucasus

Expedition to the Caucasus

In the Daryal gorge, we could personally observe those rocks that usually lie in the depths of the Caucasus, at a depth of. The forces of nature, which once gave rise to the Caucasian ridges and peaks, exposed granites in the gorges, broken by diabases, and powerful layers of sedimentary rocks that accumulated here in those distant epochs when the Caucasus was the sea.

The expedition was based in the village of Kazbegi. The working hours of its participants were so condensed that we were almost constantly "in time pressure". From the morning until three or four o'clock in the afternoon, it is necessary to conduct a field route, and after a short lunch break, the meetings of the scientific symposium began. They discussed issues related to the structure and evolution of the Earth. O. L. Kuskov (USSR) and 3. Frank (GDR) presented the results of theoretical studies of the composition and properties of the Earth's core and deep regions of the mantle. The staff of the Institute of Geophysics in their report showed that complex modeling of the properties of rocks allows us to approach the construction of real models of the Earth's crust for specific tectonic structures, In the reports of our colleagues from the Czech SSR, the GDR and the GDR talked about laboratory studies of samples collected during previous expeditions, for example, in the metamorphic complexes of Granulite and Ore mountains of the GDR.

The cooperation of scientists united by a common scientific project opens up excellent opportunities for conducting technically complex research based on the equipment and methods available to each of the cooperating parties. The effectiveness of such cooperation was clearly demonstrated in a number of joint reports, for example, in the report of 3. Pross (Czechoslovakia) and Yu. Kopp (GDR), devoted to the study of elastic anisotropy of ultrabasic rock samples taken in Granulite Mountains. Elastic properties were studied on a unique device created at the Geophysical Institute of the Academy of Sciences of the Czech SSR, and all microstructural studies were carried out on an electron microscope in the GDR.

Names of new minor planets

Recently, the names of the next group of new asteroids have been approved. Of the 26 minor planets whose names are given in the February issue of the Planetary Center circular, 15 were discovered by Candidate of Physical and Mathematical Sciences Nikolai Stepanovich Chernykh as a result of regular photographic observations of the sky using a double 40-centimeter astrograph.

What names did the new minor planets get?

The name of the minor planet 2389 Dibai is dedicated to the memory of the Soviet astrophysicist, professor of Moscow University Ernest Apushevich Dibai (1931-1983). For a long time (from 1961 to 1977), he headed the Southern Station of the Traffic Police (in Crimea), worked closely with scientists of the Crimean Astrophysical Observatory of the USSR Academy of Sciences.

The main directions of his research were the study of diffuse nebulae and regions associated with the formation of stars; the study of active nuclei of galaxies and quasars. An experienced observer who perfectly mastered the most diverse methods of astrophysical research, E. A. Dibai was at the same time a brilliant theorist. He obtained the spectra of several hundred Seyfert galaxies and Markarian galaxies, discovered dozens of new galaxies with active nuclei, and made a great contribution to understanding the physical processes in these unusual objects.

The minor planet 2402 Satpayev is named after the famous Soviet scientist in the field of geology, President of the Academy of Sciences of the Kazakh SSR, full member of the Academy of Sciences of the USSR Kanysh Imantaevich Satpayev (1899-1964) — a prominent organizer of science, who did a lot for the development of astronomy in Kazakhstan.

The minor planet 2711 Alexandrov is dedicated to the outstanding Soviet scientist Anatoly Petrovich Alexandrov. His name is associated with the development of many important areas of modern science — solid state physics, nuclear physics, hydrophysics, the physical foundations of energy, the use of superconductivity. A. P. Alexandrov made a great contribution to the overall progress of Soviet science, improving the forms of its organization, the development of new promising areas.

The minor planets 2836 Sobolev and 2849 Shklovsky are named after prominent representatives of the Soviet school of theoretical astrophysics. Real free porn movies https://exporntoons.net online porn USA, UK, AU, Europe.
